Health Care Services

For health care services, all service users have the right to register with health care professionals of their choice. Our linked GP surgery is Lambgates Health Centre which is next door. We have weekly ward rounds with our GPs here who we find excellent. We offer the latest digital healthcare services with direct links to Tameside General Hospital. All staff are fully trained in first aid and taking clinical observation. 

 

We can arrange other health services in house or escort you to appointments such as Dentists or Audiology.

  • We have a fortnightly visiting Massage Therapist.

  • We have visiting Dementia Nurses.

  • We have a visiting Pain Management Team.

Activities

​We have an excellent daily activities programme organised by our designated Activities Co-Ordinator including quizzes, arts and crafts, music, baking, exercise classes, reminiscence, local news, indoor bowls, pamper afternoons, flower arranging, sing alongs and garden parties to name a few. We go out as much as possible for pub lunches, scenic drives, coffee mornings and tea dances. We have weekly visits from Therapy Dogs Nationwide and weekly Musician visits. We have an Entertainer each month and always celebrate big occasions with a party! We have an exciting Intergenerational Project with a local nursery who visit monthly and complete stimulating activities. We have a visiting hairdresser. We have a closed Facebook account for families to see all the fun activities we get up to.

We have monthly Residents Meetings where we talk about what we want to do and how things are going, discuss menus/ trips/home life/ future events/ points of interest. Religious services take place in the main lounge every month and are conducted by local clergy from different denominations. We can also arrange private prayer and for you to go out to religious services.

Family and Friends

We welcome family and friends, especially grandchildren to come along and join in! We love having pets and children visit us, we have regular parties through the year and children's groups and schools who visit us. We help students with Their Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and we are an accredited placement provider for the local schools and colleges for health and social care courses.

Visiting times are flexible 7 days per week between 9am and 8pm. If you are unwell or in certain circumstances, we can allow visitors to stay with you during the night. We have a visitor's room that can be booked in advance through staff. Please note that visits may be restricted at some times due to government regulations for example with Covid-19, we will keep you updated with changes at all times.

Catering

We have two full time cooks who provide nutritious, fresh, home cooked food every day. We can cater for a wide variety of dietary needs. We are regularly inspected by Derbyshire County Council and have received a

5-star Food Hygiene rating.

We always take the time to outline personal likes/dislikes. We have a two-weekly menu on display. We specialise in traditional home cooked meals and puddings all of which are cooked using the finest ingredients. All our produce is sourced locally from a butchers and greengrocers while the rest is bought with weekly deliveries. All meals are carefully planned to meet nutrition guidelines.

 

Staff are always on hand to support service users in a dignified manner with nutritional needs. Staff are trained in Food and Nutrition, Food Hygiene, Dysphagia Awareness, Diabetes Awareness and Dignity in Dining. We have visiting Dieticians and Speech and Language Therapists for anyone that may need support. Staff can offer one to one support at mealtimes if required.

 

Breakfast is served from 8am

Lunch is served at 12:30pm

Tea is served at 5pm

Supper is served at 8pm

Food and drink are available anytime throughout the day

and night. Snacks and hot and cold drinks are offered

during and in-between meals. Visitors are welcome to

enjoy a meal with service users by prior arrangement.

We enjoy a communal takeaway night each month.
